Growing up, the slang word we used for money was bread. As soon as I could carry a shovel I was in the neighborhood, hustling—cutting grass, shoveling driveways, cleaning yards—whatever I could do to get that bread. Once I turned 16 and had my first job, whenever a friend would ask what I was up to, I’d always say, “Man I’m trying to get this bread.”

Now, I embrace the irony of profiting in an industry where I’m physically carrying, transporting, and stacking bread. This double entendre is my mantra and my way of life.
